AirAsia, Asia’s largest low-cost carrier with rapid growth across 85 destinations and a fleet that expanded from 2 to 106 aircraft, faced difficulty sourcing quality candidates for middle and senior management and niche specialist roles. Traditional social media, job portals and recruitment agencies generated many unqualified applicants or proved costly, making it hard to fill critical leadership and specialist positions across its regional offices.
Beginning in January 2012, AirAsia adopted LinkedIn Recruiter, Job Slots, a conversational Career Page and targeted searches to reach passive and global candidates and emphasize cultural fit. The approach delivered faster, more cost‑effective hires for urgent roles, higher-quality applicants (about 10% matched requirements versus 3–5% from other channels) and growing LinkedIn engagement to support future recruitment.
