The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), representing more than 390,000 accounting professionals, sought to create a members-only online community where members could network, share industry best practices, and develop social media skills — a valuable perk to boost engagement and membership retention.
AICPA launched a members-only LinkedIn Group, promoted via LinkedIn Display Ads, its social channels, newsletters and email signatures, and organized interest-specific subgroups to surface resources and discussions. In the first half of 2013 the group grew 40% to 54,000 members (about 15% of the association), became LinkedIn’s top driver of traffic to AICPA’s website, and generated sustained, high-value conversations that members cite as a standout benefit.
