Callaway Golf sought to reenergize its brand ahead of the 2013 U.S. Open by reaching digitally connected professionals who golf and turning the sport’s natural networking value into deeper customer relationships. The challenge was to raise brand awareness and drive authentic engagement with a professional audience in a way that felt relevant and social.
Working with Fanscape and LinkedIn, Callaway launched the interactive “Hit the Links” app that used the LinkedIn API to let members build and share their ultimate foursome, supported by targeted Display Ads and Sponsored InMails. The campaign generated 8,270 foursomes, a 32% InMail open rate, 139 likes and 79 comments on status updates, 1,500 new company followers, and an 83% lift in positive social sentiment.
