How Brooklyn-Based Olmsted Stays Contact-Free and Nimble with Upserve Tableside POS

Olmsted, the multi–James Beard Award–winning Brooklyn restaurant, faced a sudden shutdown and mass layoffs when dining rooms closed during the COVID‑19 crisis and had to pivot to running a food bank, a grocery pop‑up, and new outdoor dining concepts. To reopen safely and adapt service for guests and staff, Olmsted turned to Upserve and its Tableside POS solution to enable contact‑free ordering and payments.

Upserve’s Tableside POS devices were deployed to let servers take orders and process Apple Pay at the table, cutting paper use, eliminating hand‑to‑hand contact, and streamlining service under new safety protocols. The Upserve solution helped Olmsted resume outdoor dining with a safer, more efficient guest experience and supported their effort to keep staff employed while meeting pandemic restrictions.
