GST Achieves Sustainable Competitive Advantage through Unique Partnership with Lectra

Global Safety Textiles (GST), a leading independent producer of airbag fabrics and cushions with operations on four continents and over 5,000 employees, needed to raise production performance and meet exacting manufacturing specifications for one-piece-woven (OPW) airbags. To prepare for worldwide deployment of Lectra’s next-generation FocusQuantum laser-cutting solution, GST partnered with Lectra to define specs and validate the technology in a real production environment.

After joint testing and software collaboration in Poland, GST and Lectra certified FocusQuantum for mass production and rolled it out in China as part of a global equipment standardization. The partnership significantly lowered unit cost per airbag, more than doubled productivity versus the previous solution, tripled production capacity, and improved cutting quality while reducing defective parts.
