UCHealth, a 12-hospital academic health system, needed a scalable way to improve operating room utilization and support growing surgical volume before new ORs could be built. Previous efforts around first-case-on-time starts and turnover times had not produced lasting gains, so the health system turned to LeanTaaS and its iQueue for Operating Rooms solution.

LeanTaaS deployed the Exchange and Analyze modules of iQueue for Operating Rooms across UCHealth’s metro Denver inpatient and outpatient ORs, later expanding to additional hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. The platform gave surgeons and schedulers transparent performance data and an easy way to release and request block time, resulting in a 47% median increase in blocks released per month, 10% earlier block releases, a 4% increase in OR utilization, and an estimated $400K in additional revenue per OR per year.
