SSM Health Increased Patient Volume by 18% Without Adding Infusion Chairs

SSM Health, a large Catholic not‑for‑profit health system serving communities across the Midwest, faced unpredictable COVID‑driven patient volumes, construction that forced closure of infusion chairs, social‑distancing constraints, extreme morning rushes and slow afternoons, imbalanced nurse workloads, and major pharmacy bottlenecks. To address these challenges they partnered with LeanTaaS and deployed iQueue for Infusion Centers.

LeanTaaS implemented iQueue for Infusion Centers at four SSM cancer sites, using templates to shift appointments (for example when Kisker clinic chairs were closed) and smooth daily demand. As a result LeanTaaS helped SSM achieve an 18% increase in patient volume without adding chairs, a 25% reduction in drug wait time, a 44% reduction in infusion wait time and a 30% increase in afternoon median chair utilization, while improving operational agility and nurse satisfaction.
