A LeanTaaS Case Study
Oregon Health and Science University’s (OHSU) Center for Health and Healing (CHH) in Portland operates 15 ORs and employs 91 perioperative RNs and surgical technicians, sharing staff across facilities and prioritizing cross‑training. Despite strong expertise among service line coordinators, the lack of a centralized digital tool created a multi‑step, manual process for next‑day OR assignments—taking up to an hour daily per staffer, causing assignment delays, duplicate record‑keeping, and limited visibility into staff experience; OHSU had partnered with LeanTaaS and its iQueue for Operating Rooms platform to address these issues.
LeanTaaS implemented the iQueue Staff Planner module (Daily Roster) to create a single source of truth for rosters, assignments, and staff experience, eliminate duplicate data entry, and automate communications, enabling faster, more informed assignments and accelerated robotic competency training. After six months, LeanTaaS’ solution saved charge nurses and nurse managers about 5 hours per week and service line coordinators about 20 hours per week, delivered complete confidence in knowledge of staff experience, and freed time to reinvest in staff support, patient care, and operational improvements.
