Novant Health Increased Splitter Surgeon Volume by 9% Systemwide

Novant Health, a non-profit integrated healthcare network with 15 hospitals, 123 operating rooms and more than 680 clinics, faced growth and capacity challenges—attracting community surgeons, enabling surgeons to find open OR time, and streamlining OR scheduling—that were worsened by COVID-19-related elective surgery backlogs and low block utilization. LeanTaaS remotely implemented iQueue for Operating Rooms to increase surgeon engagement, accountability and transparency; within seven months Novant saw a 2.6% increase in case volume, a 3.8% rise in OR minutes used, 1% higher prime-time and staffed-room utilization, a 9% boost in splitter-surgeon volume, and surgeons spending more time with data (55% averaging 4+ minutes), with clinicians releasing unused blocks earlier—delivering a 6.15X ROI for Novant Health.
