Preview of the Hartford HealthCare Case Study

Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute Decreased Average Patient Wait Time by 27%

Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute, which operates seven hospitals, nine medical oncology practices and 13 infusion centers across Connecticut and treats nearly 8,000 new cancer cases annually, faced unevenly loaded infusion schedules, midday peaks, difficult add-on scheduling, challenges coordinating with clinics, long patient wait times and unbalanced nurse workloads. To address these issues, Hartford HealthCare engaged LeanTaaS to deploy iQueue for Infusion Centers.

Over an 18-month rollout across 180 infusion beds, LeanTaaS’s iQueue leveled appointments and optimized workflows, producing measurable improvements: a 27% decrease in average wait time, a 10% increase in average daily completed volumes, and a 14% decrease in average scheduling lead days, with the scheduled peak reduced from 24 to 20 and reported positive impacts on nursing workflows.
