Dignity Health, a nonprofit network of 400+ care centers, faced limited operating room (OR) access, poor block utilization, and a lack of real-time visibility into unused OR time—relying on manual, phone-and-fax release processes and hundreds of slow reports. To modernize scheduling and improve surgeon and patient access, Dignity Health partnered with LeanTaaS and implemented iQueue for Operating Rooms.
LeanTaaS deployed iQueue’s Analyze, Collect, and Exchange modules systemwide to create a single source of truth, an “Open Table” marketplace for open time, and a focus on reusable “Collectable Time.” The results included a 153% year-over-year increase in blocks released, 2.6 million minutes of OR time opened with an average 26-day lead time, patients’ surgery dates identified more than three weeks in advance and confirmed within 24 hours, and a 14.5× contribution-margin ROI across 36 hospitals over 18 months—while maintaining block and prime-time utilization (56% and 46%) through COVID-19.
