A LeanTaaS Case Study
Cone Health, one of North Carolina’s largest not‑for‑profit health systems, faced complex coordination problems across its 73 operating and procedural rooms managing roughly 50,000 cases a year. Disjointed communication, delayed awareness of case changes, and lack of schedule visibility meant staff relied on time‑consuming phone calls and texts (often five contacts per change), risking delays or cancellations. To address this, Cone Health implemented LeanTaaS solutions, including iQueue for Operating Rooms (Real‑Time View), to better optimize OR utilization and surgical care coordination.
LeanTaaS delivered a mobile, PHI‑free real‑time schedule and automated notifications that eliminated multiple calls/texts, aligned vendors and staff instantly, and improved resource allocation and staffing. As a result, LeanTaaS helped Cone Health save an average of 65 minutes daily per nurse, cut more than 220 labor hours system‑wide each day, and achieve a 98% reduction in vendor calls; 74% of users access the app daily and use it about 15 times per day, enabling faster, more efficient surgical operations.
