Baptist Health Medical Center South, part of the Baptist Health Jacksonville system, is an 11-OR hospital that struggled to increase access to operating room time due to a block schedule with limited open time, no easy way to advertise released time, difficulty defensibly measuring block utilization, and limited visibility into operational metrics. To address these challenges they partnered with LeanTaaS to implement iQueue for Operating Rooms.

LeanTaaS deployed iQueue’s Exchange (with OpenTable), Collect, and Analyze modules to encourage release and advertising of unused blocks, measure block usage in a surgeon-centric way, and provide one source of operational truth to surgeons and leadership. One year after the October 2019 launch across 11 ORs, Baptist South saw an 11 percentage-point increase in block utilization, an 8 percentage-point increase in prime-time utilization (excluding a COVID-impacted period), a 57% reduction in abandoned blocks, and an average 25-day lead time on released time; iQueue has since been rolled out to 74 ORs and 14 endoscopy suites across the system.
