How Reddit Uses Lattice to Drive Career Growth

Reddit, the fifth-most visited site on the web, struggled with ambiguous career progression—no consistent job levels, competency matrices, or clear “next steps” for promotions—which made development conversations unfocused and opened the door to subjective bias. Already a Lattice customer for performance reviews, Reddit turned to Lattice Grow (part of the Lattice platform with Premium Support) to create a clear “North Star” for managers and employees.

Using Lattice Grow, Reddit’s HR and EPD leaders designed six- to seven-level career ladders and customizable competency matrices, with leaders iterating directly in the tool to define role-specific milestones. Within months, Lattice enabled managers to coach more confidently, gave employees visible growth plans and concrete promotion criteria, and helped track development conversations via Lattice’s one‑on‑one features—delivering early, measurable improvements in clarity and ongoing career development engagement.
