Area 1, a 50-person cloud security company based in Redwood City, needed to replace an HRIS’s built-in performance module that was clunky, poorly supported, and administratively heavy. With a distributed workforce and a young employee base unfamiliar with formal reviews, Area 1 sought a simple, cloud-based performance management tool—ultimately choosing Lattice.
Lattice delivered a self-service, cloud performance platform (Lattice Plan Platform) with Slack integration, goals, 1:1s and continuous feedback features, plus responsive support and tutorials. The switch cut administrative work for admins and managers, drove manager and engineering adoption of goals, enabled regular quarterly/monthly feedback instead of a single annual review, and boosted morale through Slack praise—helping Area 1 surface top performers and use engagement as a reliable “temperature-taker.”
