A LANSA Case Study
Terminix, the Memphis-based global leader in termite and pest control, needed to modernize IT to support rapid growth across 12,000 employees and 400 locations. The company was burdened by hundreds of standalone UNIX servers and a COBOL mainframe that relied on overnight batch transfers and manual rekeying, leaving call centers and field technicians without up-to-date customer information and hampering expansion.
Terminix replaced the distributed environment with a centralized LANSA-based iSeries platform, deployed to 400 branches and 12,000 devices (including 5,500 handhelds) and integrated third-party systems via LANSA Integrator and Web services. The new system enabled near–real-time leads and routing, improved technician productivity and customer communication, accelerated development, reduced the cost of opening branches, and supported growth from $600M to over $1B while providing scalable, reliable operations.
