A LANSA Case Study
Scalandes, the purchasing and logistics arm of E. Leclerc serving stores in South‑West France and Portugal, faced a growing legacy System i environment where product and financial data were scattered across many 5250 green screens. Needing faster, clearer decision support and a Windows‑style interface—but not a full system replacement—Scalandes set out to modernize the most used functions first, remove barriers between Windows and System i apps, and preserve existing business logic and data.
Working with Sprint Logiciels, Scalandes used RAMP and Visual LANSA Framework to redesign the user interface into a single portal, consolidate information (reducing product purchase views from 15 screens to two tabs), and reuse existing system assets. The result was faster, more productive users, improved customer service with single‑click access to order and delivery status, measurable time savings per transaction, strong user adoption, and a platform ready for dashboards and reduced reliance on error‑prone Excel exports.
