A LANSA Case Study
Compagnie Générale d’Affacturage (CGA), a Société Générale subsidiary and major player in the French factoring market, needed to consolidate a fragmented IT landscape (iSeries core plus GAP, COBOL, PowerBuilder, Visual Basic and multiple databases) while expanding into larger accounts and improving integration with the bank. With a small team skilled in iSeries but with limited web/client‑server experience, CGA sought a single, integrated development toolset to reuse existing business logic, simplify customer and third‑party access, and build web and client/server applications without extensive new hires.
CGA standardized on the LANSA toolset for web, integration and development, rolling out an intranet, customer management apps and the DAILLY back‑office system, and using LANSA Integrator to replace Minitel data feeds from La Banque de France. By reusing iSeries business logic, the company unified its teams, automated processes (about 80% of financing requests now require no staff intervention), delivered reliable multichannel access (5250, intranet/extranet/web) and created a flexible, future‑proof platform for Java and other integrations.
