Case Study: Royal Wagenborg achieves integrated ship-and-shore fleet management and automated supplier portals with LANSA

A LANSA Case Study

Preview of the Royal Wagenborg Case Study

Royal Wagenborg manages ship and shore with LANSA

Royal Wagenborg, a Netherlands‑based global logistics group operating shipping, towage, ferries, warehousing and project transport, faced a fragmented IT landscape of non‑integrated legacy systems across ships and shore. The company needed an integrated, scalable solution that would support Windows clients, web access and XML exchanges to manage fleet operations, crewing, chartering, maintenance, passenger reservations and supplier interactions without forcing procedural changes or heavy dependence on third‑party packages.

Wagenborg implemented LANSA/Visual LANSA to build its WALFIS suite and web applications, deploying Windows servers onboard with a central iSeries onshore, browser‑based crew planning and voyage administration, an XML supplier portal (MTML) and online ferry booking. The result was synchronized ship‑and‑shore operations, far less manual rekeying and errors, faster delivery from a small development team, improved maintenance and inventory management, and a foundation for future real‑time services.
