A LANSA Case Study

Rippe & Kingston pioneers AS/400 eBusiness competency center

Rippe & Kingston Systems, a Cincinnati-based software development and consulting firm and long-time LANSA partner, launched the first AS/400 eBusiness Competency Center in 1998 to help organizations modernize legacy AS/400 applications for the web. Customers faced difficult, time-consuming CGI/HTML development and needed secure, reliable, scalable 24/7 platforms plus guidance to get eBusiness projects started quickly.

Using LANSA for the Web on AS/400, XML and the Competency Center’s consulting, infrastructure and multilingual tools, Rippe rapidly web-enabled deep application functionality—examples include eBusiness extensions for Infinium and the ITT‑TDS site. Results included much faster development cycles (web extensions built in months), dynamic multilingual web apps, lower costs through Internet-based EDI (reducing VAN fees), and scalable, reliable 24/7 service with solutions marketed through Infinium and other channels.
