A LANSA Case Study
REHAU, a global leader in polymer processing with 170 locations worldwide, faced a major IT challenge: an aging COBOL-based ERP that lacked a proper database, multilingual support and scalability for a fast-growing international business. Packaged ERP options were too costly and inflexible, so REHAU sought a cross-platform, multi-language solution that could also provide web access for partners and integrate with third-party systems.
REHAU rebuilt its ERP (ALN) using LANSA starting in 1996, developing in Visual LANSA and using LANSA Integrator for real-time M2M and SAP/BizTalk connectivity. Today ALN runs on 21 iSeries machines in 23 languages, supports thousands of users and modules from CRM to warehouse and EDI, and is maintained by a lean team of six developers and one trainee. The result: faster development, lower TCO, live web portals for partners and robust integrations, enabling scalable, multilingual global operations.
