A LANSA Case Study
Porsche Cars North America needed to replace a 12‑year‑old, RPG‑based Vehicle Management System that was not Y2K compliant, hard to maintain, and unable to handle the highly configurable new Boxster model. The old system was slow, batch‑oriented, lacked real‑time integration and multilingual support, and could not scale to support PCNA’s 220+ dealers across North America and other international markets.
Using LANSA’s Rapid User Object Modeling, templates and multi‑lingual/DBCS support, Porsche rapidly prototyped, generated and refined a new VMS that integrated in real time with financial, warehousing and warranty systems. The project was delivered at least three times faster than with RPG, was rolled out to most dealers within weeks, improved order processing and allocation, delivered richer sales analysis and customer insights, reduced maintenance effort, and set the stage for future web access.
