Groupama Assurance Crédit (Groupama AC), part of the Groupama mutual insurance group, needed to modernize its heavily customized COBOL/IBM i insurance application (BIS‑Inforis). Users were stuck on 5250 character screens and constantly switching between poorly integrated 5250 and Windows apps, which hindered productivity, yet the company wanted to avoid risky data migration off the IBM i.

Groupama AC chose LANSA’s RAMP with Visual LANSA to web‑enable and redevelop the system via a joint project team; the November 2010 pilot redeveloped 30% and visually redesigned 70% of the core. The new GUI, workflow automation and Windows integration delivered faster, more intuitive navigation, simpler development, immediate productivity gains and a phased rollout to the rest of the users.
