A LANSA Case Study
Maronda Homes, a U.S. builder that has delivered over 30,000 homes (about 5,000 last year) across Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio, faced a challenge: coordinating more than 1,000 subcontractors, supervisors and field sales staff with fragmented, non–real-time systems. The company needed one reliable platform and database to track construction stages, costs and availability in real time without managing multiple operating systems or databases.
Maronda implemented HomeSoft, a LANSA-based web solution on its IBM iSeries that consolidated sales, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, inventory, messaging and accounting into a single real-time system. The result: fewer phone calls (about a 50% reduction), faster scheduling and sales closure, supervisors able to manage more homes, an estimated saving of at least $1,000 per house in 2003, and an effective workforce capacity increase of roughly 20%, with further gains expected from planned wireless and supplier integrations.
