Ipad Search of Diamonds Boosts Trecenti’s Sales

Trecenti is a Japanese jeweler with 13 shops that has been shifting from off-the-shelf to custom engagement and wedding rings. Sales staff traditionally had to leave the sales floor to call head office to confirm the availability and delivery of loose diamonds, causing delays, repeated choices, weekend work for product staff, and a poorer in-store experience for customers.

Trecenti repurposed Oriental Diamond’s LANSA-based Loose Diamonds Web System and deployed it on iPads (Safari) at store counters, enabling real-time searches of ring frames and diamond inventory without changing the existing web application. Rolled out to all stores in January 2011, the quick implementation improved customer engagement, shortened negotiations, raised the sales close rate, eliminated weekend inventory calls, and boosted both customer satisfaction and staff motivation.
