A LANSA Case Study
Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, a global forklift manufacturer based in Cleveland, needed a standardized flow-manufacturing system. Although flow manufacturing was core to their operations across many plants, each site used its own spreadsheets and ad hoc tools, making process data, changeovers and integration with ERP/MRP difficult to manage.
Using Visual LANSA, Hyster-Yale developed FlowBase — a tightly integrated flow-management application (Line Design, Materials Definition, OMS and Kanban) that retrieves MRP/order data in real time and embeds OMS graphics via Adobe Photoshop. Phase one (≈400 programs, 200 DB files) was built and globally rolled out in about 18 months to 360+ users in three languages from a single code base, delivering improved data accuracy, faster operations, and a maintainable, internally supported competitive advantage.
