A LANSA Case Study
Hayhurst Elias Dudek Inc. (HED) is one of Canada’s largest independent insurance brokers, managing complex legacy systems on an IBM System i and a mix of RPG and System/36 files. Facing limited, closed CRM tools (Goldmine), manual re-keying, data duplication and poor integration, HED set out to modernize its applications, move toward a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and migrate to a relational, modular design with reusable components.
HED rebuilt its CRM using the Visual LANSA Framework and LANSA Integrator SOAP Web services, creating an IMS-CRM that tightly integrates System i, .NET/SQL, Outlook, TotalGuard quoting, RightFax and third-party services. The new solution delivers real-time data sharing, automated workflows and document generation, cut duplicate tasks and training, improved data integrity and user productivity, and is now used by 170 users as the launch pad for a phased SOA-driven modernization.
