Case Study: DUMAC (RORC) achieves stable, configurable, low‑cost POS for 1,000+ retailers with LANSA

A LANSA Case Study

Preview of the DUMAC Case Study

Good, Fast and Cheap RORC achieved all three with LANSA

RORC, a division of DUMAC that supplies POS solutions to supermarkets, quick‑service and restaurant markets across the USA and Canada, was maintaining a legacy Visual Basic system with a dated UI, limited configurability and persistent code instability. Every Microsoft or database upgrade required time‑consuming rebuilds, and commercial retail packages were either too costly or over‑featured for RORC’s independent customers.

RORC rebuilt its backend, POS and more than 40 integration interfaces using LANSA’s low‑code platform, creating a single source codebase insulated from OS and database version incompatibilities. The new solution was developed faster and cheaper, is simpler to maintain, and has been rolled out to over 1,000 retailers running mixed Windows environments — eliminating the previous upgrade headaches and reducing ongoing development effort.
