Gannett Brings Big Benefits To Newspapers Large And Small

Gannett Co., Inc., the largest U.S. newspaper publisher (85 dailies including USA TODAY), faced a fragmented IT landscape where separate RPG and COBOL systems managed circulation and advertising and PC-based marketing databases were uncoordinated. The company needed a scalable, portable development environment and an integrated customer/marketing view that would work across very large and very small newspapers.

Gannett implemented Genesys on LANSA to unify circulation, advertising and marketing across its System i servers, replacing legacy systems and rolling out to 70 newspapers on schedule. Built and maintained by a seven-person team, the solution accelerated development, reduced defects and maintenance effort, centralized customer data, supported integrations (PRIZM, address hygiene, merge/purge) and improved customer service and call-center efficiency.
