A LANSA Case Study
The College of New Rochelle (CNR), a multi‑campus institution serving about 6,000 students, faced fragmented legacy systems for admissions, financial aid and student administration that duplicated data, made tracking and reporting difficult, and created a heavy client‑support burden. Its CAPS administrative system ran on legacy RPG/COBOL code and required a more flexible, integrated web solution to speed processes and reduce IT overhead.
CNR worked with DB Systems to redevelop CAPS using LANSA and deliver a browser‑based ASP hosted solution, centralizing data, adding customizable drill‑down reports and enabling direct online financial aid applications. The result: counselors complete aid forms in minutes, funds arrive faster (reducing short‑term financing costs), students get immediate cost information to boost enrollments, and the college runs administration for thousands of students across multiple campuses with far smaller IT support and lower redevelopment cost.
