A LANSA Case Study
CBC, a leading Australian distributor of bearings, sealing products, power transmission and related products, needed a reliable way to give distributors across remote and low-bandwidth locations live browser access to its customized RPG-based ERP system. After a failed Java-based client approach, CBC turned to LANSA’s aXes to meet the need for fast, centrally managed access without installing special software on client desktops.
LANSA implemented aXes as a zero-client web-enablement solution, with a quick installation that took less than 30 minutes and only a small server footprint. The result was instant browser access for CBC’s distributors through standard web browsers, with lightweight screen packets averaging just over 1KB enabling reliable performance even over slow Internet links, and a painless rollout that improved access without added maintenance overhead.
