A LANSA Case Study
Carole Fabrics, a Hunter Douglas company that manufactures custom draperies, upholstery and related home décor, faced a high-volume, high-complexity order environment (about 1,000 orders/day) in which over 40% of custom orders required phone calls to decorators, creating costly delays, extensive call‑center training and risk of wasted materials. They needed a secure web solution that integrated with their customized MAPICS ERP and preserved existing configurator logic rather than rebuilding thousands of rules.
Using LANSA Commerce Edition, Carole built a Web-based Configurator and APIs that feed and create live orders in MAPICS (via an IIS Edge Server for security), automated yardage and custom-order workflows, and provided real-time tracking and stock updates. The change cut about two days from delivery times, eliminated most proofing and lengthy training, freed call‑center staff for other work, increased customer self-service and sign-ups, and was implemented rapidly (roughly two man‑weeks over six weeks).
