A LANSA Case Study
Alpura is a leading Mexican dairy group—about 82,000 cows across 160 farms producing over 2 million liters of milk per day—supplying hundreds of supermarkets nationwide. Despite strong physical distribution, Alpura faced inefficient paper-based billing and order processes, limited visibility into supermarket sales (data held by distributors), cash-flow issues, and the need for a low-cost, real-time, nationwide web solution that could be built quickly without extensive web development skills.
Alpura partnered with LANSA and RISC to build a LANSA-based web system tightly integrated with its RPG core, giving distributors browser-based, real-time access to orders, billing, invoices and payments. The solution was delivered in four months by two developers and immediately cut administrative costs (estimated ~70%), reduced the distributor payment cycle from 15 to about 2 days, improved delivery accuracy and order fulfillment, and provided daily supermarket-level sales visibility for better marketing and negotiation.
