Finnegans Blonde Ale, the limited-release beer from Minneapolis-based Finnegans, needed a cost-effective way to publicize the launch and reach local urban craft beer drinkers across its four-state distribution area. With a limited marketing budget and a charitable mission that puts pressure on every dollar spent, the brewery turned to Lamar Advertising Company for an out-of-the-box out-of-home approach.

Lamar Advertising Company created a digital OOH campaign using five digital billboards in downtown Minneapolis, integrating Twitter interactions with the fictional mascot Saint Ashlee to drive engagement and brand awareness. The campaign helped Finnegans sell out the beer, boosted Q1 sales 58% versus 2011, grew the @Saint_Ashlee Twitter account to 130 followers in the first week, and generated more than 50 questions before St. Patrick’s Day.
