Case Study: Buffer achieves faster, easier deployments with Kubernetes

A Kubernetes Case Study

Making Deployments Easy for a Small, Distributed Team

Buffer, a small distributed social media technology company, needed a better way to support a growing team of developers and shorten its slow, risky deployment process. As more people worked on the same services, the company wanted a more flexible infrastructure that would let engineers create, deploy, and scale applications more easily.

Kubernetes helped Buffer embrace containers and build a more liquid, service-oriented infrastructure. With Kubernetes, Buffer was able to set up test clusters and deploy proof-of-concept apps in about an hour, speed up feedback loops, and roll out bug fixes much faster while scaling services horizontally as needed. Buffer said the platform was approachable for a small team and continues to support more of its services over time.
