A Kritik Case Study
The University of Guelph faced the challenge of maintaining student engagement and developing critical professional skills during the transition to remote learning. The loss of peer interaction was a significant concern, and Associate Professor Elliott Currie sought a way to replicate the essential peer-review process found in professional environments within his undergraduate classes. He turned to the vendor Kritik to address this need.
By implementing Kritik’s peer assessment platform, Professor Currie was able to have students conduct detailed case analyses and provide feedback to one another. The solution included key features like calibration, which ensured grading accuracy, and a grade dispute system to maintain fairness. Kritik enabled students to significantly improve their ability to give and receive professional criticism, a core managerial skill. The professor observed a marked improvement in the quality of student feedback throughout the term, effectively preparing them for their future careers.
