University of Alberta - Customer Case Study

The University of Alberta's Dr. Alex Gainer sought a better method to prepare his large classes of first and second-year economics students for in-class discussions. His university's existing LMS was inadequate for administering peer feedback, as it failed to ensure students were grading each other accurately or putting effort into their evaluations. He turned to the vendor Kritik and its peer assessment platform to address this challenge.

By implementing Kritik, Dr. Gainer’s students were able to create and evaluate each other's work, nurturing their curiosity for economics and developing a discussion mindset. The platform’s structure and its Evaluation Score feature steered students to provide more accurate peer reviews. As a result, the students became vigilant and serious evaluators, receiving personalized feedback and improving their critical thinking skills. Kritik enabled the professor to efficiently administer peer feedback for over 1,600 students and helped increase student engagement and satisfaction.
