Teaching Interpersonal Skills in an Online Environment

Dr. Ellen Pullins, a professor at the University of Toledo, needed a way to teach complex interpersonal sales skills in an asynchronous online format. The challenge was to move beyond traditional role-playing and peer evaluation, which were difficult to replicate remotely using standard video-conferencing tools, while also maintaining high student engagement.

Kritik provided a peer assessment platform that enabled students to conduct and record role-playing exercises with partners on Zoom and then submit them for evaluation. Using Kritik's customizable rubrics, students assessed each other's work, which significantly reduced the professor's grading burden and increased student accountability and critical thinking. The solution successfully delivered an engaging, viable method for teaching interpersonal skills online.
