VMware, a leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, launched the My VMware mobile app to give customers easy access to license keys and support information. Faced with the complexity of supporting many devices and operating systems and the need to secure, scale and maintain the backend, VMware sought a more cost-effective, fully managed mobile delivery platform so its IT team could focus on the apps themselves and turned to Kinvey on vCloud Air.

Migrating the app to Kinvey on vCloud Air took under four weeks (two weeks of code tweaks and two weeks of QA), requiring only OAuth2 updates for identity and redirecting data requests to Kinvey’s backend. The move delivered a secure, fully managed, enterprise-class platform with seamless scalability, lower operating costs and freed VMware IT to concentrate on customers; the My VMware app (v2.3.2) now runs on iOS and Android with an improved UI, walkthrough tutorial and password reset features.
