How BBC News Increased Social Referrals to Their Website by 50%

BBC News, the BBC’s primary news service reaching over 300 million people weekly, needed to increase website visits but lacked the ability to track how its content performed on social media and to adapt coverage accordingly. To solve this, BBC News implemented Khoros software to leverage social data during the UK’s 56th General Election.

Using Khoros, BBC News built an Election Hub to monitor top terms, hashtags, candidates and influencers in real time, integrated social statistics into its coverage, and adjusted content based on audience signals. Khoros’ platform helped drive a 340% increase in Twitter impressions over the daily average and a 50% increase in social referrals to the BBC News website — the first time social data was used to monitor a UK election.
