Jagex aimed to re-engage inactive players and drive revenue growth by using Facebook advertising to bring lapsed users back to play and encourage their friends to sign up. The challenge was to target the right former players at scale and craft messaging that would motivate them to return after long absences.
Using Kenshoo, Jagex built personas and Facebook custom audiences to re-target inactive players via email cohort matching and pixel-based logic, paired with nostalgia-driven creative that highlighted both the game players loved and how it had evolved. In a two-week window the campaign drove over 1.1M video views, 16K reactions, 7.9K comments and 2.3K shares, lifted ROI by 152 percentage points, cut new-account CPA by 41%, and increased Daily Active Users by 8%.
