Swiss MSP replaces Citrix with Kemp for flexibility and scalability

Unico Data, a Swiss managed service provider supporting roughly 160 hosting customers and several thousand Exchange mailboxes, needed to replace legacy Citrix NetScaler ADCs and Microsoft TMG to improve performance, simplify operations between infrastructure and Exchange teams, and reduce CapEx/OpEx. They sought an easy-to-manage, flexible, highly available load‑balancing and reverse‑proxy solution that would scale with customer demand.

KEMP Technologies delivered Virtual LoadMaster appliances licensed via its Metered Enterprise Licensing Agreement (MELA), allowing Unico Data to deploy unlimited virtual ADC instances on a usage-based subscription. The solution was implemented in one day, now balances all Exchange traffic, provides enterprise security features (ESP and WAF), and scales up to 10,000 SSL TPS and 5 Gbit/s throughput. KEMP Technologies’ MELA model removed costly upfront hardware investment, reduced operational complexity and costs versus Citrix NetScaler, and improved availability and deployment speed for Unico Data’s services.
