A KEMP Technologies Case Study
Springfield School District faced a migration from a manual, distributed student information system to an automated PowerSchool environment and needed to consolidate servers (from about 300 toward a target of 80) while preserving performance and availability. To meet this challenge the district selected KEMP Technologies and deployed its LoadMaster 5500 application delivery controllers for hardware load balancing, citing KEMP’s ease of use and cost-effectiveness.
KEMP Technologies installed a pair of LoadMaster 5500s integrated with the district’s VMware environment to distribute traffic, offload Layer‑7 tasks (SSL, security, content) and eliminate the load balancer as a single point of failure. The LoadMasters delivered 99.999% high availability, simplified management, handled Springfield’s current traffic with capacity to spare, and supported services such as SharePoint while enabling the district’s ongoing server consolidation and future Exchange/VDI plans.
