A KEMP Technologies Case Study

Preview of the ASL n.1 Case Study

Kemp Technologies provides disaster recovery back-up for the local healthcare infrastructure in the province of L’Aquila, Italy

ASL n.1, the local healthcare authority in the Province of L’Aquila responsible for care across 4 hospitals, 2 support centres and 10 primary care practices (serving ~310,000 residents and ~1,800 users), needed a disaster‑recovery and high‑availability solution to protect patient records and critical applications in an earthquake‑prone region. To meet this challenge the authority selected KEMP Technologies’ LoadMaster 3000 (with GEO add‑ons) to provide application delivery, load balancing and disaster recovery capabilities.

Ecobyte deployed a cluster of Kemp LoadMaster 3000 appliances in the main data centre with a single LoadMaster at the backup site and enabled GEO for 24/7 health checks and automatic failover. KEMP Technologies’ solution keeps Microsoft Exchange and document management systems available (targeting 99.9% uptime), handles about 300 genuine emails/hour and ~100 internal server connections for 1,800 users, and delivers seamless failover and improved application performance during outages or disasters.
