Kemp Technologies keeps the IT at Roskilde University in balance

Roskilde University, a Danish institution with about 10,000 students and staff, needed to renew its IT infrastructure and replace a 25+-year-old PBX to support integrated services and its 10 Gbps DeiC research network connection. The university moved to a Microsoft Lync–based unified communications platform for 1,000+ employees, which required a very stable, highly available connection, so they selected KEMP Technologies load balancing as part of the new platform.

KEMP Technologies’ Kemp LM5500 load balancers were installed to distribute traffic across servers in the university’s two data centers, preventing overload and providing redundancy and high availability for the Lync environment. The solution proved easy to integrate and cost‑effective, delivering stable voice/video quality, improved staff mobility and efficiency, and a reliable foundation to extend services (including Exchange) and roll out the platform to the broader 10,000-strong university community.
