Osborne Clarke, a global law firm with more than 600 lawyers across Europe and North America, needed to keep business‑critical applications running 24/7 and perform maintenance without disrupting users. To solve recurring instability with Microsoft Network Load Balancing, Osborne Clarke deployed KEMP Technologies’ LoadMaster (LM5300) load balancers to protect core systems including Microsoft Exchange, Worksite and SharePoint.

KEMP Technologies implemented three LoadMaster devices (an HA pair in Bristol and a single unit in the London backup site) to distribute heavy email and web traffic and support specialist legal apps. The solution delivers about 99.9% availability, handles roughly 9,000 genuine emails per hour for ~1,300 active users across 18 offices, lets servers be taken offline for maintenance without user impact, was quick to install (about two hours to configure and a one‑hour switchover), and added LANDesk SSL certificate checks — measurably improving reliability over the previous Microsoft setup.
