Meetic, France’s largest online dating site, relies on email notifications to drive traffic and keep subscribers engaged. Because French law lets users opt out of emails, many members had deactivated notifications, reducing site activity and event participation; Meetic’s challenge was to encourage these opted-out users to re-enable notifications without harming the user experience.
Using Kameleoon, Meetic ran a short, targeted campaign that showed contextual pop‑ins to visitors who had turned off specific notification categories and were browsing the related pages (bottom-left, 10 seconds, once per visit). Each pop‑in explained the benefit and included a CTA to re-enable the relevant notifications; this personalized, low-frequency approach produced a 3% reactivation rate among targeted visitors and highlighted the importance of message timing and placement for UX.
