Helping GPI Get The Untold Story Told

Global Press Institute (GPI) is a San Francisco–based nonprofit that trains women journalists to report local stories across 27 countries. With editors located in four regional hubs and 135 journalists in the field, GPI found email and basic document-sharing tools too slow and inefficient for real-time story editing and for training new reporters from headquarters.

GPI adopted join.me so editors and reporters can collaborate live—using remote control, presenter swap and annotation—while trainers in San Francisco run interactive sessions that switch seamlessly between presentations and real examples. The tool accelerated story production and onboarding, reinforced skills like organization and fact‑checking, and removed distance barriers so teams can produce more accurate, timely local journalism.
