Case Study: Loblaw Digital achieves scalable, faster test management and daily releases with Jira Software

A Jira Software Case Study

Preview of the Loblaw Digital Case Study

Transforming test management for a retail giant

Loblaw Digital, the in‑house software arm of Canada’s largest retailer, struggled with testing chaos as the team scaled rapidly—dozens of brands, multiple platforms, languages and browsers, and tests with 384 permutations made quality work slow, fragmented, and hard to share with nontechnical stakeholders. The engineering group needed a way to reduce toil, increase productivity, and accelerate delivery without adding more tool complexity.

By integrating Jira Software with Adaptavist Test Management for Jira (TM4J) and working closely with Adaptavist, Loblaw Digital built a customizable end‑to‑end testing solution (using environments to handle permutations, a Slack automation called Jeanie, and traceability reports). The result: releases moved from monthly to weekly and now daily, the team runs roughly 200,000 tests a day, regression times shortened by 250%, delivery velocity has improved up to 10x in places, and the platform now scales across the enterprise.
