Zend Technologies, founded by PHP contributors Zeev Suraski and Andi Gutmans, builds PHP development and runtime products like Zend Studio and Zend Server and leads several open-source projects. Facing a heavily customized, aging Mantis bug tracker, Zend needed a clean start to support formal workflows, better reporting and cross-team visibility across development, QA, product and support.

Zend migrated to Jira (with GreenHopper and Fisheye integrations), configuring projects with tailored workflows and rolling it out company-wide. Adoption was rapid—QA became strong advocates—and the move delivered richer reporting, flexible data slicing, enforceable processes and the ability to track work as well as bugs, improving development visibility and velocity; Zend plans to pull more insights from Jira and expand GreenHopper usage.
